The Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology is located in the Michael Swann Building on the King's Buildings campus of the University of Edinburgh, approximately 3 miles South of the city centre.
How to get here
There are frequent flights to Edinburgh (EDI) from airports in the UK and continental Europe. British Airways alone currently offers 20 fights a day to Edinburgh from London (14 from LHR, six from LGW) with a journey time of approximately 75 minutes. Bmi (formerly British Midland) offers a further eight. Outwith the UK, there are direct flights to Edinburgh from Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and many other cities.
By rail: Edinburgh can be reached in 4 - 4.5 hours from London (by GNER).
On arriving at Edinburgh the Centre is most conveniently reached by taxi: ask the driver to take you to the University of Edinburgh King's Buildings, gate no.4 on Mayfield Road. The fare from the airport ought to be around 15 - 20 GBP; from the city centre, 5 - 10 GBP depending on the traffic conditions.
By car: the King's Buildings campus is located on the South of the city, on Mayfield Road. Click here for road maps.
The Michael Swann Building is located 100m from gate no.4 and is easily recognised by the Eduardo Paolozzi bronze sculptures Parthenope and Egeria at the front of the building.
